A wealth of artists in one book

This lovely edition of La Fontaine was produced by Club du Livre in 1966 – its full title is Vingt Fables illustrée par de nombreux artistes :

The list of artists involved is quite impressive – Yves Alix, Calder, Cassandre, Cavailles, Clavé, Marianne Clouzot, Paul Colin, Coutaud, Salvador Dali, Hermine David, Dunoyer de Segonzac, Valentine Hugo, Félix Labisse, J. Lagrange, A.Marchand, Pignon, Dom Robert, Rohner, Marc Saint-Saens, Touchagues – an excellent list.

Paris, club du Livre, 1966. 1 large folio volume, in leaves, in folder illustrated with golden arabesques with title in black + in casing covered with brown leatherette. Title on the spine in large golden letters – 43 x 33 cm – 185 pages + tables

Preface by Jean Paulhan. Each story is illustrated by a different painter with 2 chromolithographs, including a full-page signed + 1 Suite of all the illustrations.
A total of 80 engravings including 40 full pages  This is a limited edition – Number 188 of 399 copies.
