Beautifully illustrated short stories from a French Windmill

In 1869 Lettres de mon moulin saw the first publication of this set of Daudet’s short story collection, often considered his definitive work. It is told as a collection of first person narratives addressed to a Parisian reader. It is particularly loved in the South of France, where it is cherished for the picture it paints of local culture. Besides, who doesn’t love a story sent from a windmill!

This edition, is a numbered copy, in an edition of 1000, with beautiful coloured illustrations throughout. The illustrations were created by Alcide Theophile Robaudi – long known for his illustrations for fine editions of French books, and hand coloured by Fred Money.
