In search of lost lovers – a remembrance of pleasures!

This work is the first edition of Marcel Proust’s first major published work “Les Plaisirs et les jours” (Pleasures and days)

Famous French watercolorist Madeleine Lemaire produced illustrations for this work.  She was the model for Proust’s Madame Verdurin (from in Search of Lost Time)

It was also she who introduced the Venezuelan writer Reynaldo Hahn to Marcel Proust in May 1894 – they were to become lovers.
